Residential Life

Residential Council

The Residential Council of Brown University (ResCouncil) is a student advisory board that provides assistance and insight to the Brown Office of Residential Life.

Members of the Residential Council are appointed through the Undergraduate Council of Students (UCS). The ResCouncil consists entirely of students (13 members or up to 3 alternates).

The purpose of the Council is to serve as a link and advisor for students and the Office of Residential Life. Every year the Council reviews all Program House options, assists with improving and implementing the housing selection system, and makes recommendations to Residential Life on a wide range of issues, including the formation of new program house groups.

ResCouncil represents student interests to the University and advocates for improvements in the residential experience of undergraduates. Throughout the year, ResCouncil hosts student forums to gather input and maintains a social media presence to provide students additional information about the residential experience, both on and off campus.
