Residential Life

Off Campus Student Experience

Welcome to the BLOC! Extending Brown University’s value of “supporting one another” beyond campus borders, the BLOC (Brunonians Living Off Campus) program helps students unlock the best of living in Providence.

Thanks to all who joined us for the Spring BLOC Lunch & Learn, and congratulations to our big gameshow winners, Nora, Livia, and Isaac!

Our Move Out 2024 Lunch & Learn will be same time (11:30am-1:00pm), same place (Bear's Lair, Grad Center E), on Monday May 20. Here's your PVD Move Out Guide to review closely so you can win the next game!

The BLOC can support you in your off-campus experience in several ways. Come here to:

  1. Learn more about the decisions and choices involved in off-campus living
  2. Get to know key community expectations, contacts, and resources
  3. Understand how to build strong, positive relationships with your neighbors
  4. Explore and connect with Providence neighborhoods & associations

Through the BLOC, you can expect to gain practical insights on navigating the city, resources, and key community contacts, all while embracing the vibrant neighborhoods and opportunities Providence has to offer. BLOC students learn about the topics above through:

  • Social events like Mixers, Game Nights, and Lunch & Learns
  • BLOC Walks, where we visit and provide you resources in your neighborhood
  • mobile friendly e-Newsletters and micro-learning courses
