Spring Housing Selection Information for 2026-2027

Community Messages

Dear Students,

On November 12, 2025, we shared information about the 2026–2027 housing selection process. Since that announcement, we successfully completed the fall selection process and are now preparing for the launch of the spring selection processes: general housing, off-campus permission, and specialized communities.

A high-level overview of these spring selection processes is provided below. Additional details, including key housing selection dates and community messages, are available on the ResLife website. We will also provide information and answer questions in info sessions and office hours to help you prepare for the process that is best for you.

Following the announcement of changes to the program and theme community selection processes in November, we worked with students who provided input into the process. While we continue to ensure that all students have equitable access to programs, activities, and residential experiences, these thoughtful conversations resulted in some slight modifications that were shared with these communities on November 25, 2025.

Housing Selection Processes

Spring General Housing Selection for Rising Juniors & Rising Sophomores

  • From Feb. 2 to Feb. 28, rising juniors and rising sophomores can complete their housing application, which will include the option to express interest in a specialized housing community (outlined below).
  • Students who do not request or are not placed in a specialized housing community will select their housing during Selection Days, April 6-8. An additional form will be available the first week in April where you can identify prospective roommates or suitemates.
  • Rising juniors may indicate their interest in living off campus in their application. Those who are approved will receive notification on a rolling basis before the spring general selection process.

Room Swap Process

  • In late April, ResLife will launch the room swap process, allowing students to make independent room changes with other students who participated in the same type of spring process.

Specialized Housing Selection Processes

Students interested in living in one of the specialized housing communities will indicate their interest on the housing application. Students apply to these communities individually, not as part of a group. Once placed, students are committed to that placement, and cannot decline or participate in the general selection process.

Special Interest Housing (SIH)

  • Four SIH options will be offered: single-sex, single-gender, substance-free, and quiet housing.
  • Indicating interest in the application in one of these options guarantees a placement.
  • Because the location of each SIH community will be determined based on the number of students who select it, students will not know the location at the time they select this option.

Greek, Program, & Theme Communities

  • Students can indicate interest in up to two (2) Greek, program, or theme communities (see descriptions on the ResLife website).
  • For Program Communities: Recruitment events and community interviews will be offered to interested students. Participation in these activities is required for full consideration.
  • Student leaders for Program communities will review answers submitted in the application from students who express interest in joining these communities.

Religious Requests and Disability-Based Housing Accommodation Requests

Religious Requests

  • Students requesting placement in a residential environment that supports specific religious observances and practices may indicate this in the application.

Disability-Based Housing Accommodation Requests

  • Students who want to request disability-based housing accommodations should submit their documentation to Student Accessibility Services (SAS) by February 28, 2026 (priority review deadline).
  • If the placement meets all approved accommodations, students are committed to that placement, and cannot decline or participate in the general selection process.

The application for Spring General processes is open beginning today, February 2, 2026 and will close at 11:59pm ET on February 28, 2026. You may access the 2026-27 Academic Year Housing Application in the housing portal.

In Closing

We recognize that there are many housing options to consider as you decide which is best for you, and we are here to help you along the way. Please plan to attend ResLife info sessions, tabling events, or staff office hours to learn more about how to prepare for your housing selection.

Sincerely,

Brenda Ice (she/her)
