Community Messages
Greetings Brunonians - With the 2024-2025 academic year in full swing, please allow me to officially welcome you home! We, in Residential Life (ResLife), are excited to have you on campus, as it’s your presence and energy that makes this place special. We are committed to providing programs, services, and support that enhance your residential experience. When I became a Brunonian three years ago, I was (and remain) committed to continuous improvement of the residential student experience. To that end, I am happy to share that based on your feedback, we are introducing new initiatives that will enhance your sense of belonging and connectedness to Brown. ResLife On The Move - In an effort to create a greater presence in the residential communities, our Area Coordinators (ACs) have moved. The AC staff offices have now been relocated to residence hall spaces around campus, creating an ease of access to our professional staff; available to provide support and assistance as issues arise. Click here for a list of this year’s staff and their office locations. We have also moved all administrative operations to the fourth (4th) floor of Grad Center E. All of the ResLife leadership teams are centrally located on the top floor - Residential Education (ResEd), Greek, Program, and Theme Communities (GPT), Residential Operations (ResOps), and New Student Programs & Community Initiatives (NSPCI). Our Facilities Operations team (a subunit of ResOps), continues to operate on the third (3rd) floor of Grad Center E - which is also where you can find our Key Service Center. Residential Renewal - The past few years we have introduced new residence halls at Brown. We enter this year with an energy and excitement towards renovating and renewing our existing residential spaces. In the coming weeks, we will announce renewal plans for the next three years. Our focus will address challenges with building infrastructure, upgrades to existing fixtures, and the expansion of shared community space. As these and future initiatives are announced, our ResLife website will devote a page for the community to stay abreast of the projects. Residence Hall Councils - Our Residence Hall Councils (RHC) will be vibrant, student-led organizations dedicated to enhancing the living experience in our residence halls. Each council is committed to creating a sense of community, fostering student leadership, and organizing fun, inclusive events. By participating in RHC, you can make new friends, develop valuable skills, and make a positive impact on your living environment. Whether you're passionate about planning activities, advocating for residents' needs, or simply want to get involved, there's a place for you in our Residence Hall Councils. Click here or contact your Area Coordinator to learn more about RHC. And back by popular demand… Office Hours - The ResLife staff will continue to host drop-in office hours each day, offering times in the morning and afternoon for you to stop by and speak directly with a member of our team. All staff offices are located in Grad Center E (42 Charlesfield Street). No appointments required. Drop-in hours have already begun. Our schedule can be found on our website. Note - some of the drop-in hours will be virtual (Zoom). I’ll conclude this message with a quick reminder of dates and closures. Our residence halls remain open during Thanksgiving and Spring Break. Be sure to make note of our closing and opening dates, as you plan your travel to and from campus. If your plans don’t include travel, no worries. We will share information about requesting housing during the Winter Break later this semester. |
You can expect to see more initiatives and projects from our office this year that help to create a greater sense of community and belonging. Our staff are truly here to support you on your journey at Brown. We are excited about the possibilities for the upcoming year and are so happy that you are here to be part of our reimagining of the residential student experience. Welcome home, |
