Dear Students,
We hope you are well. While it may seem early, we know that many students and families are beginning to plan for the end of the semester and for the storage of their belongings over the summer break. Therefore, we are writing to you today to provide an update on moving and storage vendors and how they will operate in the residence halls and on campus beginning this semester.
While there are multiple moving and storage companies around Providence, we encourage students to choose either Storage Scholars or Conlon Student Storage. You can find their websites and contact information below.
Storage Scholars

Conlon Student Storage
508-336-7766
Our reasoning for this encouragement is that we have personally vetted these two companies and entered into a partnership with them. We have shared our safety and security expectations with both companies and they have agreed to these expectations. Additionally, our review process of multiple companies showed that their safety measures and handling of student belongings have proven to be superior to other local companies. Therefore we only recommend using these two companies as we know they align with our commitment to student safety while we cannot say the same for any other company.
Using Storage Scholars or Conlon Student Storage
As part of this partnership, our staff will work with the two companies to escort them to your room if you are unable to escort them. Students have the option to leave their items in the room, and our staff will escort the storage company into the room to retrieve their items and transport them to the storage facility. For students who will live in on-campus housing in the Fall, our staff will support in the same fashion; our staff will work with the company to drop off student items before their arrival.
Using Other Moving and Storage Vendors
This year you may choose to use another company. We understand that you may have already made arrangements, or have used a company in the past that you wish to use again. These other companies can come to the entrance of your building to meet you but they may not enter the building. We also will not provide any assistance to these companies (e.g. escorts to your room if you are not available).
Bike Storage
Additionally, we want to remind all on-campus students that we do not allow the storage of bicycles (or any other possessions) in the bike storage rooms or bike racks attached to the residence halls. Any bicycles left behind after the residence halls close will be considered unclaimed property and disposed of.
If you are unable to bring your bicycle home, we recommend inquiring about storage options with Storage Scholars or Conlon Student Storage.
Please reply to this email or attend office hours if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Amanda Surgens
