Community Messages
Dear Students,
We hope you had a restful winter break and are settling into the Spring 2025 semester. While we are just starting this semester, the staff in Residential Life are working on the Housing Selection and Assignment process for Fall 2025.
This email contains the action items required for all housing selection processes for Fall 2025. Please read carefully. If you have any questions, please reply to this email or attend our office hours.
At a Glance:
- If you are required to live on campus for Fall 2025 you must complete a 2025-26 Academic Year Housing Application before the February 21 deadline, regardless of which type of housing you would like to receive.
- If you are eligible to live off campus or commute next year and do not plan to live on campus, you must complete the Off-Campus and Commuter Form before the February 21 priority deadline.
- You can find a full timeline of our processes on our website.
- Residential Life offers office hours every weekday to answer your questions (beginning January 29).
- Residential Life will be tabling at the dining halls before housing selection at several dates between February and April. See the schedule here.
- You can add all important housing dates to your google calendar here.
On-Campus Housing Application
All students required to live on campus for Fall 2025 must complete a 2025-26 Academic Year Housing Application before the deadline of February 21, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. Those who do not complete the application by the deadline will not be eligible for any pre-selection or selection process, including but not limited to: Greek, Program, Theme, Special Interest housing, pre-selection SAS housing, religious request housing, and general housing selection. Students who do not complete the application by the deadline will be assigned a room on campus after the Housing Selection Process concludes, over the summer.
The required portion of the application contains a lifestyle questionnaire, an acknowledgements page, and an information page about how studying abroad will impact your housing selection plans. All students required to live on campus must complete this portion of the application.
There are also optional portions of the application which you will only complete if you are interested in one or more of our pre-selection options, such as Greek, Program, Theme, or Special Interest housing. These optional portions are accessible at the end of the required portion of the application.
If you are interested in receiving disability-related housing accommodations through Student Accessibility Services, you must complete a housing application as well as all forms required by the SAS housing accommodations process by February 21.
If you are interested in requesting specific features in a housing assignment based on your religious beliefs, observances, and practices, you must complete a housing application by February 21 and then complete the Religious Request Form in the housing portal. The Religious Request Form will not be visible to you until you have completed the housing application.
If you are interested in applying for the Community Coordinator position, you must first complete a housing application.
Off-Campus and Commuter Form
If you are eligible for off-campus status (married students and students 23 years or older), or are eligible for commuter status, you may accept that status via the Off-Campus and Commuter Form, available via the Forms process. You should do this by the February 21 priority deadline, as it greatly assists in our planning efforts for housing selection.
Off-Campus Lottery for Rising Juniors
Rising juniors who wish to be considered for exemption from the housing requirement have the opportunity to enter into a lottery for off-campus permission, accessible via the Forms process. Those wishing to express interest in living off-campus must complete the on-campus housing application first, and will then complete the Off-Campus Lottery Form.
The on-campus application is due February 21, and the lottery form has a priority deadline of February 21. Those released from the residency requirement will be selected through a randomized lottery process on a rolling basis beginning February 26.
The Office of Residential Life strongly discourages students or their families from signing any lease without confirmation from our office that the exemption has been granted. The signing of a lease for off-campus housing is not justification for receiving off-campus approval, and the signing of a lease - and any resulting financial difficulties - will not result in off-campus status.
In Closing
Thank you for your attention to this important information regarding living on campus next year.
Please reply to this email or attend office hours with any questions regarding this process.
