Update on Community Coordinators

Community Messages

Dear First-Year Students,

As you begin your first weekend at Brown, I’m writing to share an update about the Labor Organization of Community Coordinators (LOCC) work stoppage.

The University and LOCC have continued to bargain during the work stoppage with the goal of agreeing on the first contract between LOCC and the University. LOCC informed us this afternoon that their members have voted to discontinue the work stoppage and return to normal work on Saturday while we continue to bargain in good faith toward a formal contract.

Community Coordinators are partners in the residential experience, and they take on these roles in order to help you develop connections within your residential community and enhance a sense of belonging at Brown. Having already completed their training, your Community Coordinators are ready to connect with you and help you settle into your new home away from home. We’re excited to have all of our Community Coordinators resuming their regular duties.

Programming in the residence halls, facilitated by Community Coordinators and Area Coordinators, will begin after Orientation programming concludes next week.

We’re excited to have you on campus and ready to build community together.
