Community Messages
Dear Students,
We hope that you are doing well and are looking forward to Spring Break. As we reach the mid-point in the semester, we wanted to provide you with an update regarding spring closing and departure procedures.
In support of Commencement and Reunion Weekend, and in collaboration with Facilities Management, our office has a very short turnover period to prepare the residence halls for the arrival of Commencement and Reunion guests. While no action is required at this time, we ask that you thoroughly review this message and use this information to make your plans for the end of the semester.
At a Glance:
- Residence halls close at 12pm ET on Monday, May 26 for graduating students, including December 2025 grads.
- All on-campus students must provide their planned departure date via the Spring 2025 Departure Form, which will become available on April 2.
- Extended housing beyond May 26 is available through a request process.
Residence Hall Closure
Residence halls close at 12pm ET on Monday, May 26 for graduating students, including December 2025 grads. As our records indicate you are a graduating senior, you are required to fully vacate your room and return keys no later than 12pm ET on Monday, May 26, 2025. Your swipe access to the residence halls will be turned off at noon unless you are granted extended housing permission by our office. You will receive more detailed closing information on April 2. In the meantime, for more information about spring closing, please visit our website.
Planning for Campus Departure
Beginning April 2, we will ask you to provide our office with your departure date via the Spring 2025 Departure Form by either signing up for a Key Drop Time (departure on or before May 26 at 12pm) or by requesting extended housing (departure after May 26 at 12pm). We will email you the link to this form when it becomes available.
Housing during the extended housing period costs $45 per day. Sponsoring departments are responsible for payment and if you are without a sponsor, you are responsible for payment. If you are sponsored and you are approved to depart outside the date(s) noted by your sponsor, you are responsible for all housing charges for the non-sponsored days at a rate of $45 per day. The approval of extended housing requests is not guaranteed, and graduating seniors may not request to remain in on-campus housing beyond June 1, 2025 at 12pm.
Please reply to this email if you have any questions. If you have specific questions and prefer to meet with one of our staff, consider attending our open office hours.
Sincerely,
Amanda Surgens (she/her/hers)
