[Important] Off-Campus Lottery for Rising Juniors

Community Messages

Dear Students,

This email serves as notification that the off-campus lottery process for rising juniors is now live. The process is described in full detail below.  Access to the off-campus lottery application is available via the Forms process in the housing portal. This process closes at 12pm (noon) on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

This process is how you, as a rising junior, can indicate your interest in living off-campus for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.

You may form a group or go through this process alone. These groups are separate and distinct from any group formed during the on-campus general housing selection process. Due to city ordinances in Providence, the maximum group size is three. All group members must be rising juniors, and each group member must create and submit their own application. Groups must be formed at the time of application and group membership cannot be altered after the application deadline.

If you express interest in off-campus permission, you (and your groupmates, if applicable) will be placed on a randomized waitlist. As space permits the Office of Residential Life will email students to grant off-campus permission from the waitlist. Initial offers will be extended beginning March 15, 2023 and continue on a rolling basis as needed. If you receive off-campus permission through this process, your approval email will contain important information about accepting or declining off-campus permission.

While as a rising junior, you are eligible to join the waitlist for off-campus permission, please know that only a small percentage of rising juniors will ultimately receive off-campus permission. As such, it is imperative that you not sign a lease to live off-campus unless you receive written notification from the Office of Residential Life indicating your off-campus approval.  The signing of a lease for off-campus housing - and any resulting financial difficulties - is not justification for receiving off-campus approval.

Sincerely,

Amanda Surgens
