Dear Student,
We hope that you are doing well as the spring semester is well underway. Our office has received information from Study Abroad Advising (SAA) that you have an active application to study abroad next year. We wanted to provide you with a few updates regarding your housing eligibility, given your potential study abroad status for next semester. If you are not actively pursuing a study abroad experience, please notify our office as soon as possible, as well the Study Abroad Advising team (studyabroad@brown.edu), to ensure your student account is updated.
If you have been accepted and plan to commit to studying abroad, you should not participate in any housing selection process for the Fall 2023 semester. By studying abroad, you are ineligible for on-campus housing. If you commit to studying abroad, we will cancel any applications you have on file for Fall 2023 housing and send you an email confirmation of that cancellation.
Students who commit to study abroad during the Fall 2023 semester and plan to return for the Spring 2024 semester will receive information about the mid-year housing process from our office in early November 2023.
Students who commit to study abroad for the entire 2023-24 academic year will receive information about Fall 2024 housing selection in early November 2023 and again in early February 2024.
If you have not yet been accepted into your study abroad program or your plans have changed, you may participate in on-campus housing selection for the time being. Please contact our office to discuss your options and visit our website for important dates and resources for housing selection.
If you have any questions about how your study abroad status affects your housing eligibility, please reply to this email so our team can assist you. If you have any general study abroad questions, please contact studyabroad@brown.edu
Sincerely,
Amanda Surgens
