Community Messages
Dear Students,
We are writing today as a follow-up on our October 5 message to announce that the Fall 2023 Housing Selection process is now available for rising seniors, RUE students, and rising third-year students in the Brown-RISD Dual Degree program. If you plan to graduate prior to the Fall 2023 semester, you may disregard this message.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:59pm ET to be eligible to live on campus in fall 2023.
If you do not intend to live on campus in fall 2023, no action is required at this time.
After the on-campus application has closed, our office will contact students who have not applied for on-campus housing to share information regarding off-campus living, including resources that support the off-campus student experience and registering an off-campus/local address.
If you wish to live in a single room or with other rising seniors, and you have applied before November 4th, you will have the opportunity to make a housing selection in the fall.
If you wish to participate in Greek, program, or theme communities, special interest housing, or general housing selection with rising sophomores or juniors, and you have applied for housing before November 4th, you will be eligible to participate during those processes in the spring.
If you apply for housing before November 4th but change your mind and decide to live off-campus, you will be able to cancel your application/placement without penalty through January 31. After January 31st, there will be tiered cancellation fees. This cancellation fee structure is designed to incentivize earlier decision-making and optimize the University’s ability to offer these canceled room assignments to rising juniors and rising sophomores during their selection processes.
Resources
Our office is hosting an informational webinar on November 2 at 3pm ET where our staff will go through the housing application step-by-step and answer student questions. The webinar will be recorded for those unable to attend live.
In addition to the webinar, our team continues to host open hours for students with questions about this process. No appointment is necessary.
A full listing of housing selection dates is available on our website.
In closing
We are committed to supporting students in understanding their housing options, navigating the housing selection process, and receiving a housing assignment that meets their needs and provides opportunities to grow in community. We encourage you to attend our information sessions and webinars to learn more or stop by our open hours if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
