Dear Student,

We hope that you are enjoying your summer, and that you’re looking forward to the start of your experience at Brown University this fall. We are excited to announce that both the New Student Housing Application and the Non-Resident Form are now available for you to complete. The deadline to complete the forms is Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:59pm EDT.  Please read this email in its entirety as it contains pertinent information about your housing options.

While RUE students are exempt from the six-semester residency requirement, you are still required to confirm your Fall 2023 housing status–either living on-campus or living off-campus as a non-resident student–-by filling out the appropriate form in our housing portal. Please note you only need to complete one of the forms.

If you choose to live off-campus you will go to the Non-Resident Form (located in the Forms process). You will then be able to register your RUE status and live off-campus.

If you choose to live on-campus, you will go to the New Student Housing Application. The information you provide will allow us to match you with others with similar responses as part of our housing placement process.

Fall 2023 Arrival Information

The official move-in date for new on-campus students is Wednesday, August 30. Early arrival housing is not available except to University-sponsored programs, such as pre-orientation, student leadership training, and athletics. Unless affiliated with one of our University-sponsored programs, you should plan to arrive on August 30. More information on Fall 2023 arrival will be provided on our website later this summer.

Housing Application

Students are matched with roommates using information from this housing form. Your answers to these questions will help us learn more about your ideal living environment. Our office will match roommates based on responses to the general lifestyle criteria questions included in this form. We believe that these basic habits are the cornerstones to roommate compatibility. You can also request housing in support of religious practices or express interest in a special interest community. Please note that once your form is submitted, you cannot make changes to the form. If you wish to edit your responses, please contact our office.

Students seeking disability-related accommodations may register with Student Accessibility Services (SAS). The priority deadline for submitting disability-related housing accommodations is on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Late requests submitted after this deadline are not guaranteed placement before the start of the semester.  Please visit the SAS Housing Accommodation page for more information.
