[Action Required] Housing Application and Non-Resident Form Available (RUE Students)

Community Messages

Dear Student,

We hope that you are enjoying your summer, and that you’re looking forward to the start of your experience at Brown University this fall. We are excited to announce that both the New Student Housing Application and the Non-Resident Form are now available for you to complete. The deadline to complete the forms is Monday, June 24 at 11:59pm ET.  Please read this email in its entirety as it contains pertinent information about your housing options.

While RUE students are exempt from the six-semester residency requirement, you are still required to confirm your Fall 2024 housing status–either living on-campus or living off-campus as a non-resident student–-by filling out the appropriate form in our housing portal. Once you have filled out one, you do not need to fill out the other unless your plans change.

If you choose to live off-campus you will go to the Non-Resident Form (located in the Forms process). You will then be able to register your RUE status and live off-campus.

If you choose to live on-campus, you will go to the New Student Housing Application. The information you provide will allow us to match you with others with similar responses as part of our housing placement process.

Housing Application

In the application, you will be able to indicate answers to the Lifestyle Questionnaire which will inform your housing assignment, including an opportunity to indicate your preference (opt-in/out) for gender inclusive housing; details embedded in the application. You will also be able to indicate interest to be placed in one of our special interest communities and provided with information related to the disability-related accommodation process.

Students seeking disability-related accommodations may register with Student Accessibility Services (SAS). The priority deadline for submitting disability-related housing accommodations is on Monday, June 24 at 11:59pm ET. Late requests submitted after this deadline are not guaranteed placement before the start of the semester. Please visit the SAS Housing Accommodation page for more information.

Fall 2024 Arrival Information

The official move-in date for new on-campus students is Wednesday, August 28. Early arrival housing is not available except to University-sponsored programs, such as pre-orientation, student leadership training, and athletics. Unless affiliated with one of our University-sponsored programs, you should plan to arrive on August 28. More information on Fall 2024 arrival will be provided on our website later this summer.

Our office partners with a variety of campus offices to ensure we are ready for your arrival. All students are issued an ID card to access buildings around campus, meals in dining facilities, and make purchases at various campus and community locations. All IDs require a photo which must be uploaded by accessing Banner Self-Service, prior to arriving on campus.

If you have any questions about providing your Brown ID photo, please contact Brown-Card-Office@brown.edu so they can assist you.

If you have any questions about your residential experience, please contact our office at res_life@brown.edu

Sincerely,
