Dear Students
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to campus in August. We are writing today to provide detailed information you’ll need before you return to campus. Please review the contents of this message thoroughly and contact us with any questions.
At a Glance
- Move-in date for returning students is August 30, 2025
- Several forms must be completed prior to your arrival
- Personal property insurance is now available
- Early Arrival Requests are now being accepted; deadline July 28 @11:59pm
The Housing Agreement
All students living in the residence halls must sign the 2025-2026 Housing Agreement, which outlines your rights and responsibilities related to your housing in a University residence hall. You may access and sign the Agreement via the Forms process in the Online Housing Portal. You will not be able to request early arrival housing or a move-in time slot until you sign the Agreement. Failure to sign the Agreement prior to your arrival may delay your check-in process.
Personal Property Insurance
Per the 2025 - 2026 Housing Agreement, all students are required to indicate whether they have personal property insurance for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. In order to make this process easy and convenient, we have partnered with GradGuard, a trusted partner company that many students may be familiar with from their tuition insurance program.
To comply with this requirement, all you need to do is go to the Insured Status Form within the Forms process and do one of the following:
- Register intent to purchase personal property insurance provided by GradGuard
- indicate that you either have existing insurance coverage or will purchase one from an insurance provider other than GradGuard, or
- indicate that you do not have any personal property insurance, and acknowledge the risks of not having any personal property insurance while living in a residence hall.
The University strongly urges, but does not require, that all students have personal property insurance to protect from loss or damage due to theft, fire, flood, vandalism, and any other hazards. While you are required to indicate whether you have personal property insurance, you are not required to purchase a plan from GradGuard.
Check-in Time Slots (August 30 Arrival Only)
Check in for Fall 2025 for returning students takes place on Saturday, August 30, 2025. To ensure a smooth check-in process, it is important that you indicate a specific check-in time using the Fall 2025 Check-in Time Slots form, accessible within the Forms process. Your check-in area is based on your residence hall location and is viewable within the housing portal. Please select your arrival check-in time no later than Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
If you plan to request early arrival housing, but have not yet been approved, please sign up for a time slot. If you are later approved, we will cancel your time slot for you. Students approved to arrive early will receive arrival directions from our office in their approval notice.
Early Arrival
Students assigned to on-campus housing who are participating in one of the following programs or have one of the following criteria may request to arrive prior to their official move-in day: fall athletic programs, student employment, sponsored program/research, or international travel limitations. Requests outside of those conditions and without sponsorship are subject to further review and may not be approved, regardless of the date requested.
Sponsors are University departments or units who manage programs that require students to arrive prior to the start of the semester. Sponsors are generally responsible for payment; students without a sponsor are responsible for payment. The form also contains information about financial support for eligible students.
To request an early arrival date, you must complete the Early Arrival form, located within the Forms process on our housing portal, prior to the priority deadline of Monday, July 28 at 11:59pm ET. While submissions received after this date may be considered, they are subject to additional review and may not be approved.
All requests will be verified with the sponsoring department or staff. Confirmation notices will be sent by our office, on a rolling basis, after the deadline has passed.
Requests from returning students to arrive on August 27 will be restricted due to that day being the new student move-in date.
Students approved to arrive early for a University-sponsored activity, such as a pre-orientation program or a fall varsity athletic team, do not need to sign up for a move-in time slot. Students approved to arrive early will receive directions from our office in their approval notice.
Late Arrival
If you plan to arrive after August 31 at 6am, you may indicate your anticipated date of arrival via the Late Arrival Form in the forms process. You will have to sign the Housing Agreement prior to accessing the Late Arrival Form.
What’s Next
As we get closer to general student move-in, we’ll send additional information about what to expect when you arrive. Please reply to this email if you have any questions.
