Biography

Julia (better known as Juju) is a second year master’s candidate in the College Student Personnel program at the University of Rhode Island (URI), and has joined our team this semester to serve as the Graduate Practicum Student for New Student Programs & Community Initiatives. In this role, Juju assists with the planning of New Student Orientation and connecting with Bruno Leaders to support a positive onboarding to Brown University. She also collaborates with Bruno Fellows in the Brunonians Living Off Campus (BLOC) program to build community on and off campus. 
 
At URI, Juju serves as the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Student Involvement. She advises over 200 student organizations, coordinates events for the URI student body, and supports students getting involved on campus. 

Juju received her bachelor’s degrees at URI in Arabic and Human Development & Family Science, with a minor in Leadership Studies in May 2023. She is proud of her Syrian roots as well as being a first-generation college student. Originally from Pawtucket, RI, she holds a strong love for Rhody and is ambitious to continue searching for all the ways she is able to grow and the amazing people she can meet along the way. 

Outside of the classroom and office, Juju loves watching SpongeBob and eating sushi. She is also 4’11.5″. Yes, the .5 counts!
