Fall Opening Notice

Residential Life weekend (Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor) hours of operation for early

arrival students and opening weekend:

August 15/16, 2014: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

August 23/24, 2014: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

August 30, 2014: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

August 31, 2014: 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

September 1, 2014: 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If you arrive on campus after hours, please contact DPS at 401-863-3322 for assistance.

First-Year Students

First-year students are expected to move into their rooms on August 30, 2014 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (please see the Orientation Schedule for a complete list of Orientation events). International first-year students may arrive on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 (please see the section entitled "First-Year International Students" below). It is not necessary to notify the Office of Residential Life. No exceptions for earlier arrival will be made.

Upon arriving on campus, first-year students may pick up their room keys and Brown cards at the following locations:

Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Morriss Fireside Lounge, Morriss Hall (for students living in Andrews Hall, Morriss-Champlin, Miller Hall, Metcalf Hall or Emery-Woolley)

Arnold Lounge, Keeney Quad (for students living in Archibald - Bronson House, Everett - Poland House, Mead - Jameson House, or Wayland House)

Students arriving between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday or students arriving on Sunday between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. may pick up their keys and Brown cards at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E 3rd floor (42 Charlesfield Street).

All students arriving after Sunday, August 31, 2014 should pick up their keys at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E. Residential Life will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014.

If a student arrives to campus after business hours, the Department of Public Safety (401-863-3322) should be contacted via cell phone or one of the blue light phones located on each residence hall. DPS will let the student into his or her room, and an orientation packet may be picked up the following business day at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor.

First-Year International Students

International students are expected to move into their rooms on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Students may pick up their keys and Brown card at the Stephen Robert Campus Center in the Faunce Arch (75 Waterman Street). If you are traveling by taxi, make sure to have the driver wait for you, so you can then be driven to your residence hall.

Students arriving after 1:00 a.m. on Thursday should call the Department of Public Safety 401-863-3322 to gain access to their room for the night. Students will need to pick up their official Brown ID the following day at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Students arriving on Friday, August 29, 2014 between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. may pick up their keys and Brown card at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor.

Students arriving on Saturday, August 30, 2014 may pick up their keys at the key locations listed in the "First-Year Students" section.

DPS will let the student into his or her room, and a key may be picked up the following business day at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are expected to move into their rooms August 30, 2014 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. If earlier arrival is required, please request early arrival housing using the Early Arrival Housing Request Form. Please note that arrival at any time before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 will be considered early arrival and will incur an additional fee.

On August 30, 2014 transfer students should pick up their room keys and Brown cards from the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E. If arriving on Sunday, August 31, 2014, transfer students should pick up their keys at the key locations listed in the "Returning Students" section.

All students arriving after Sunday, August 31, 2014 should pick up their keys at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E. Residential Life will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Returning Students

Returning students are expected to move into their rooms starting August 31, 2014 to September 5, 2014. If earlier arrival is required, please request early arrival housing using the Early Arrival Housing Request Form. Please note that arrival at any time before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2014 will be considered early arrival and will incur an additional fee.

If arriving on campus on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., returning students may pick up their keys at the following locations:

Arnold Lounge, Keeney Quad (for students living in Littlefield Hall, Wayland House, Slater Hall, or Hope College)

Morriss Fireside Lounge, Morriss Hall (for students living in Andrews Hall, Morriss-Champlin, or Emery-Woolley, 111 Brown Street, Plantations House, Machado House, West House, 315 Thayer, and New Pembroke)

Perkins Lounge, Perkins Hall (for students living in Barbour Hall, Barbour Hall Apts., Perkins Hall, Young Orchard, or King House)
Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor (for students living in Vartan Gregorian Quad or Grad Center)

Sharpe Refectory (Sears House, Buxton House, Olney House, Diman House, Goddard House, Harkness House, Marcy House, Chapin House, Hegeman, Caswell Hall, and Minden)

Students arriving between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Sunday may pick up their keys and Brown cards at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor.

If arriving before Sunday, August 31, 2014, students may pick up their keys at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor.

All students arriving after Sunday, August 31, 2014 should pick up their keys at the Office of Residential Life in Graduate Center E, 42 Charlefield St., 3rd floor. Residential Life will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014.
